Professional Women in Building
Logo Development
Professional Women in Building is a national organization that unites women in the construction field in many different communities. The group of PWB that I worked with was located in Fairfield county. I was connected with them through my 2020 Summer Internship with M2 Partners.
My role in this project was to create a modern and updated logo for their organization. I wanted to make something for them that embodied the spirit and message of female empowerment in the construction field.

The Design Process
-
Brainstorm
Discussing with the client what their vision is for the logo was the first step in this process. After talking with them and bringing in a few of my own ideas to test with them, I had a better idea of what I needed to design and the design paths I was going to start down.
-
Sketch and Mock-up
With a clearer vision in mind I went forward drawing up a few different sketches in Adobe. With a few different variations in place, I could play around with colors and styles after a basic direction was chosen.
-
Feedback and Finalize
After creating a variety of rough mock-ups, we set our logo with one design. From there, getting final feedback from the client to make minor edits was crucial to get them the perfect logo. Tweaking their favorite design, we ended with a beautiful identity for their organization.
Mock-ups
Based on the sketches we discussed pursuing both the Wonder Woman theme and the roof line theme in the final logo version. With that discussion and focus in mind I created some drawings in Adobe that would give the client a clearer vision of the designs.
Final design
Incorporating the stars that symbolize strength as in the Wonder Woman emblem, we went with the 4th sketch from above. This logo not only brands PWB as strong, modern, and clear, but it tells the story of what PWB is to those who interact with this logo in the future.
Reflection
Working on this project was a great opportunity for me to unleash my creativity and design something from scratch for a client. It is amazing to see my creation unlock a new side of professionalism and brand for this group of strong women. From this project I learned the importance of establishing vision and focus from the start of the design process. Having a set goal in mind with a discussion of what the final design should look like made the process more efficient and rewarding for both parties involved.
